Dear Reader,
I have been thinking, is Rolling Stone getting too old to call itself the best rock magazine. With other magazines coming up like NME and Spin, its crown is surely about to be challenged. When we look at their top 100 singers, and top songs of all time list, I seriously think they are biased. Most of the writers grew up with the older music, and therefore think their music is better and are less willing to let new music in. I guess any list would be biased though, so what are you going to do. Well thats my random thought of the moment.
Cheers,
Sjones

I think it has more to do with playing to established interests. They are foremost in the business of selling magazines, which is a moribund, and maybe even a dying, industry right now. They have to try and publish what moves copies. ie not small indie bands.
I'm sure RS has a great number of young writers on their staff, along with some of the old fogeys.
